I want my work to embody the serenity found in solitude. For me, solitude is a place with vast open skies and the silence of space, the soft transition of colors in the sunset, the quiet movement of a cloud, and the gritty beauty of the rocks and earth below. It is the peace of existence without the pressure of being observed. The ambiguity yet certainty and strength of a circle is what draws me to them. They exude presence but present in a variety of forms. They can be holes, pathways, windows, and tunnels. They can be the moon or the sun or a stand-in for the self. Their ubiquity brings a sense of calm and completeness.
